Recommended read for new dog owners

People with a new puppy or rescue dog often ask me to recommend a good basic training book. There are lots to choose from and I typically give them a list of two or three that might work for them. In general though, the books out there are either too much or too little for most pet owners to be of any real use. But I'm please to report that I've found the resource many new dog owners need. The book is called, Training the Best Dog Ever by Dawn Sylvia-Stasiewicz and Larry Kay. Dawn rose to prominence as the First Family's dog trainer. Its laid out as an easy to follow "5 week program" and includes useful photos, a step-by-step breakdown and a focus on training with love and creating a relationship of trust with your dog. Ideal for puppies or adult dogs its a terrific resource for any home with a new dog to get everyone off on the right foot (and paw!)
